Salsa Fusion with Alex Cuba ;)

This is my latest choreography . It is a salsa-fusion dance. I call it Salsa/Funk: Salsa with a couple of chili peppers. I love Alex Cuba's music and decided I needed to dance to one of his songs. He is an amazingly talented Latin-Canadian musician. The song is Que Pasa Lola. Hope you enjoy the dance. I'll teach it to my next adult Zumba class.

My Monday ZumbAtomics class went very well, I think. I had 20 kids--boys and girls ages 7-9. It is hard not to fall in love with all of my little darling dancers by the end of class. Kids are so very dear. I just love them. Tabs was an amazing dance assistant as usual. I love when she comes to class with me :)

Mist has done it! She said she'd read all 4 Twilight books in the series in one week and the kid has done it in three days. She wanted to read them all before she goes to the movie this Friday. She wants to go to the latest Twilight movie with her friends on her birthday. She says she finds the movies hilarious. But, let her be clear, this is NOT her birthday party. No, the movie is for fun but she wants another real party with more friends the next day--such is life spoiling one's (soon to be 15 year old) baby girl!

Pippi is, well...Pippi--adorable as usual. She handed me a poster this morning. She had drawn it up herself. It was decorated with designs and had these words written in bold across the top in Pippi's  handwriting:

PIPPI IS CHINESE

Yes, Pippi is now a Chinese girl. She also sketched a picture of herself as she envisions the new Chinese Pippi--she has 3 pony tails in the picture.

***3 MORE DAYS TO VOTE! THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU MY DEAR READERS!

Me Encanta Alex Cuba

Me encanta Alex Cuba (translation: I love Alex Cuba).

Alex Cuba on Jian Ghomeshi's Q
singing Solo Tu (one of my faves)

*This is great, Me encanta también Jian!
(translation: I love Jian too!)
Pic from Wednesday Night's Alex Cuba Concert  (iPhone). He has the best hair.
I am choreographing a new salsa routine to one of my favorite Alex Cuba songs. I am excited to be creating. I wanted to try a more advanced song for my class--we dance to another song I choreographed by Marc Antony, but I want to add one more salsa. I decided, why not choreograph it to Alex Cuba? So great. Once perfected, I just might post it for all you salsa fans out there :)

Last evening we drove way up to the farthest and highest South corner of Kelowna so the girls could play piano for Ballet Kelowna's Christmas Home Tours. The home they played at was very luxurious. Not my style, but lovely to visit. Will post pics of the girls playing piano tomorrow perhaps :)
While they played, I toured the home. I was walking upstairs when suddenly I found it difficult to step forward. I looked down and low and behold, my skirt had dropped to my ankles! I was skirtless. I quickly hoisted it back up and looked around to see if anyone saw my graceful moves--they were all too busy looking at the home and chatting. How embarrassing! I was wearing the skirt I bought myself in Barcelona, Spain this summer by Decigual. It is a gorgeous skirt made of cotton knit that sits low on the hips. I'm built with narrow hips so hense the inopportune slide :(
I have not eaten supper for several days straight. First off, all I had at the Alex Cuba concert was a mojito. Then the next night, I actually hated my own chilli. It was fabulous until I added the ground turkey to it and then that just ruined it in my opinion--only veg chilli from now on in my kitchen! And last night--I was not hungry so I thought I'd wait. Peter got the kids take out. I never did get hungry, so there you have it. Maybe I should make something really delicious tonight so I feel like eating supper again. My favourite thing is quinoa lately so perhaps a quinoa casserole will tempt me :P

I know, I usually blog every two-three days. But lately, I want to give my readers a little something to look at while they vote, so I've been at it daily :)

Me Encanta La Música

A few artistic stills from my last Zumba video. Pippi (the one in the cool shades) told me afterwards she had on fake werewolf teeth throughout the song! She is so adorable, that little girl of mine :)

I love Spanish music and dance and the language.  Alex Cuba was AMAZING last night. He is such a talented guitar player, singer and song writer. From the second he played his first note, I was in the beautiful world of Latin music. I did not awake from it until the concert ended. I danced in my seat the entire concert as one can not sit still for Latin music. My life is immersed in Latin music at the moment. I dance to it daily. You'd think I'd be fluent in Spanish by now...
But have no fear, I am going to take Spanish and more ballroom style Latin dance this winter. I cannot get enough of Spanish culture. I was Spanish in one of my past lives--whether it was a Spanish cockroach or a Cuban street dog--my soul believes itself to have the Spanish vibe.

And on to slightly less passionate topics, I got the UBC exam invigilator job. I start with training next week.

I know, I usually blog every two-three days. But lately, I want to give my readers a little something to look at while they vote, so I've been at it daily :)

Bathing Fernando

Could he get any cuter? That's my Fernando. Washed his bed, washed him. He seems less itchy. Let us hope his hair stops falling out. I love my dog. Still working on adopting a little bro or sis for him :)

Paper work today. Applications galore.

On Sunday I had a dilemma: 2 ZumbAtomics classes to teach at the same time, different locations. I tried to remedy the problem but because of lack of communication between staff members, I cancelled a class and the other one turned out to be not my thing. Thus no Monday classes, just like that! :(
The 'not my thing' happened because they failed at advertising and instead of getting eager dancers in the 8-12 age group, I received after-school-program kids that didn't sign up to dance, all aged 7--a few of them quite reluctant little dancers. My age limit to teach dancing is 8. Any younger and it is too much like being a nanny. Live and learn. Teaching 8-12 is perfect as the kids can really groove and are so eager to learn cool moves.
I have an audition on the 26th to see if I can teach at a new gym coming to Kelowna. I really want to teach more adult classes. I love all of the sexy dances that you can't do with kids. Except of course, my kids, they dance to everything with me:)

Tomorrow night I am going to see Alex Cuba perform! Excited! The preshow is Cuban music and Cuban food. I've only ever seen him perform on video so in the flesh should be a real treat!

Three piano lesson tonight for my gals.
Must go forth now and conquer my day. Up first: an hour of dance and 15 minutes of Tony (ab work out).
